TLC’s DC Cupcakes tv show Cast, Spoilers and Premiere


TLC’s new reality TV show “DC Cupcakes” debuts on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 10 PM (ET/PT) its first episode. DC Cupcakes is six-part summer series which casted by sisters and business partners Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis as they run a small cupcakery, “Georgetown Cupcake” in Washington that they have transformed into an extensive success.

Sophie and Katherine took many risks in their life for savings and get successful careers in fashion and finance to follow their passion for baking and their life dream of starting a bakery. They are prepared with recipes of their grandmother and strong family support. Their dream made true and both sisters founded Georgetown Cupcake on Valentine’s Day 2008. The shop is situated on a prime corner of the city’s tony M Street. Now, the tiny Georgetown business increased and there are over 5,000 cupcakes sold per day from Georgetown Cupcake.

The TV show’s each half-hour episode goes beyond the frosting to find out the secretly drama in their fast paced, family-owned bakery. From baking and decorating thousands of gourmet cupcakes a day, to meeting tight deadlines for perceptive customers, to secure large projects including fundraisers, festivals and weddings.

Big Fish Entertainment produced DC Cupcakes TLC. Executive producers are Doug DePriest, Dan Cesareo, Mark Finkelpearl, Terence Noonan and Alex Rader.

Sophie said, “You can get cupcakes anywhere — even in a grocery store or bake them at home. I think people come here because it is an experience and something special.

Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis are originally from Toronto. Sophie is 33 year old and Katherine is 31 year old. Sophie worked in finance and Katherine was an event planner for Gucci, they left their corporate jobs for completing their dream.

How these two women could leave their day jobs and pursue their passion. I think that’s a dream that many of us have,” the hook, said Howard Lee, veep of production and development for TLC.

On Tuesday night preview party for “DC Cupcakes” was occurred and it was filled with pink boxes, votive candles, tasty mini cupcakes, champagne and a fantastic look out at the trials, tribulations and success of locally owned and operated Georgetown Cupcake.

The show’s co-owner Sophie LaMontagne, the two sisters originally defined success as “making the rent and baking with their mom at their side.” LaMontagne exuberantly added “I get to come to work in sweatpants and make cupcakes!
