“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” is the title of first season of Spartacus. The title of the second season is anticipated to be “Spartacus: Vengeance.” This show story is about the stars Australian newcomer Andy Whitfield as a main character and the classic gladiator. Andy Whitfield is being sold into slavery at a gladiatorial school and then after a Thracian fighting he returns to his wife.
Spartacus Season 2 Cast:
Andy Whitfield is main character and Erin Cummings (Dollhouse) will play the role of Spartacus’ wife Sura. Manu Bennett (30 Days of Night, The Condemned) takes on the role of Crixus – the top Gladiator. Peter Mensah (300, Avatar) is Doctore, Batiatus’ most loyal and trusted slave. Antonio Te Maioha (Xena: Warrior Princess, Legend of the Seeker) will play Barca, Batiatus’ bodyguard and hit man. Craig Parker (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Legend of the Seeker) plays Glaber who blames Spartacus for his failed military campaign, and Nick E. Tarabay (Crash, The Sopranos) will play Ashur, a former gladiator who is now the Gladiator bookie.
Starz Entertainment EVP, Programming, Stephan Shelanski said, “We couldn’t be happier with the first season. Spartacus delivers on all levels — action, characters, intrigue, romance and excitement.” Then he added that Spartacus is the most ambitious original project they have ever undertaken, and speaks to the commitment to their subscribers to provide truly original programming along with their unmatched lineup of theatrical features.
Well, that’s a relief that the season 2 will come and it will be awesome. According to Cable Network official announcement 6 week prequel series – Spartacus is going to air this summer with limited appearances by star Andy Whitfield who is finishing treatments for cancer.
New York Magazine’s Vulture blog said that Starz is considering a “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” prequel miniseries in order to have something “to fill their January hole.”
Spoiler ALERT : Andy is doing great and that he and the show is going forward with shooting season 2 so expect a full season starting winter 2011. Spartacus season 2 story is being kept under veil of secrecy. It is not ruin as season one. The season 2 will be including 13 installments. Its shooting is scheduled to start in next few months in New Zealand.

totally love the show just finish watching episode 13 kill them all…so satisfying seeing them escape ..and killing all their master really love it …anyway I wonder what the story could be in season 2? history has it that Spartacus had a few battles with the romans and won!

this show is one of the best original series ive ever watched…..i really hope the actor playing spartacus recovers well from his health issues….this show rocks..idk how many seasons it can be on, just because, if you read history, after they escape there are several battles between spartacus and the romans, but no one really knows exactly what happened to spartacus….but i will keep watching as long as its on…great show….

What about ILIYTHIA? In watching “kill them all” she is the only one they didn’t show get killed. And she was up to her scheming ways by locking the others out while she remained safe. I just wonder what sort of part she will play in the next season. Anyone have any ideas as to what season 2 is going to be about>?

Just watched final episode of season 1.. Absouletly amazing!!! If you have not seen Spartacus, it is most definately worth a watch!! The first few episodes are a little flowery, but once you get into it KAPOW!

According to history, Spartacus, Onaius(Doctore) and Crixus Lead a rebellion of slaves agaisnt a Roman Tyranny. I always thought Glaber was under-used, I welcome him back for season two as they chase Spartacus around as he invents guerilla war-fare…Ilythia will be back…Ashur ooo I can’t wait..must say I will Mus Batiatus..some scheming mfer…Get well soon Andy BTW since noone knows how Spartacus died the writers have more lee way to play around with their crooked minds unlike Season one, I saw the end from the start but what a show!

I’m so sad season 1 is over. The finale, Kill Them All, was FANTASTIC! I got so into this show. It wasn’t what I expected, but turned out to be better! I will be counting the days once the announce when season 2 will premier!
Love the show! The acting was great and every episode had its own twists and turns..I have a feeling Season 2 is gunna blow viewers away! History may not say for sure what happened to Spartacus, but one thing is for sure..he put up one hell of a fight!

I love this show it is a great one the action scenes are great I like the language I like it all the exotic scenes are intoxicating keep on keeping on this show rocks. Spartacus makes me want to KILL THEM ALL with him that’s how great this show is.

Great series. Actually hated to see John Hannah and Lucy get it. Their perfomance was fantastic. Wish they could have carried them over to season 2 in some fashion.

I must admit I was very reluctant to watch it, heard it was extreamly bloody to the point of over used & frankly I could not even emagine the guy from the mummy playing anything but a whiny little wurm… & lucy lawless coomon so I was in no hurry to see this, when I finally saw it on netflix, bored for something differant I was hook in the first 30mins & never stopped watching till the end of 13… Now by Jupiters Cock I want more, everyone in this from the writers to the special effects & camera work was amazing… My biggest concern is the epicness of what spartacus became beyond being a slave & gladiator, can they hold that up & make it believable & the back door politics? How is that going to work from here out? Can’t wait to find out… Awesome stuff !!

Spartacus is awesome, I have watched the season twice from waiting every week with anticipation to watching it over when i had all episodes, I have never been intrigued by a series like SPARTACUS in my life. Get better Andy It would not be the same without you. Crixus is also of note he is awesome.

I enjoyed the first show and the last two or three. The rest were fine, but seemed to be slow getting to what you knew was coming. I was surprised there was more male full frontal nudity than female, since I’m guessing 90% of the viewers are male.
Since they are looking for alternatives while Andy’s availability is determined, it seems like a prequel would be the perfect remedy. Show what happened at the ludus before Spartacus got there. You could show Crixus becoming champion, why there was enmity between the two luduses, and you get to keep Ken Berry (yes I know) and Xena, some of our favorite actors around for another season.
i have also watch the movie and i was very amazed and i love it very well so i can’t wait to see the season 2,Andy and Veron i love you all from Abaa and Yabroba in Ghana.

i forqot to say thaat i cried eachtime someone i cared about died . when barra & varro died i cried like a little baby .. im not even qonna deny it lol the show gets soo intense & i also cried when Crixus and Naevia finally saw eachother & she got her hair cut off & crixus got whipped. i had to shed a tear .. also when SURA died in spartacus’s armss . cried too lol & when Pietros was crying bcause he thought barca left him.. then he gets beatin up & commits suicide, i cried soo much lol i miss those characters so much :/

The show has everything – the ’sensuality’, physical (fighting scenes) and plot. I love that Illythia, her husband the Senator and Asher should come into season 2. All the women on that show encourage me to keep up my body – everyone is amazing! In addition, in response to a previous comment, I do think more men watch this than women, but I havent known any of my female friends/family who after I’ve introduced the show to, wasnt hooked! There’s a lot of women I know outside of that who watch the show. Just like someone reminded, there was more male front nudity than women: IT’S ABOUT TIME!!
Having season 2 as a prequel maybe anticlimatic – I like that Spartacus grew throughout season 1 + wasnt such a hot head as he was as a gladiator. He matured but never lost his anger/revenge. He was fearless and I loved that about him. I hope that if season 2 isnt a prequel, they also bring that slave that was dedicated to him: she was good too! 1 of the best shows I’ve seen in awhile that hooked me instantaneously! I love Spartacus and I hope that the creators keep all the originality and dynamic drama in tact.

This Mini series Blew my mine. I was totally addicted. Couldn’t put it down, watched the whole season in three sittings. Totally loved it and cant wait for the next season too come out. Please make more of this stuff guys. Epic Greek tragedy, Blood, passion, and glory. A Story line that stays with you.

Well what can I say, that was the best 13 episodes of a series I have seen in ages. I was totally captivated from the first moment. The last episode was very exciting and cannot wait until next series.

This is a must watch and I must watch it again. I really loved spartacus for his calmness. I know Peter Mensah (as doctore) is a Ghanaian born to parents of the Ashanti tribe but has he naturalised as Canadian, or perhaps to Britain where he went after leaving Ghana? I loved him also for his boldness.

1st i saw the serie i was shoked by the quality of the 3D blood as it was very bad , but episode after episode the show tourned to a movie quality making it best adventure series of 2010 for me or for all may be .

Hi there, spatarcus season 1 has really driven me even more crazy watching it till 3 pm every single night of three to finish it up. While watching, I sometimes missed breathing n moving n almost shouting as if I had been in the situations being watched. Love affairs were not that much interest of mine though, but everything in the season 1. I have watched troy, 300, before bc, warriors,… but sparacus is far best. I was telling my friends, my colleagues about it with excitement n joy like I was crazy. I do love it. Spartacus is what I always wanna know whether he is safe from the fights.
