“The Mentalist” is an American police procedural television show that revolves around the story of Patrick Jane, an independent consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) based in Sacramento, California. The show was created by Bruno Heller and debuted on September 23, 2008 on CBS.

In the show, star Simon Baker played the lead role of Patrick Jane who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his amazing skills of observation. He also makes frequent use of his mentalist abilities and his semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium using paranormal abilities, he now admits his feigned. He abandoned his pretense out of remorse when his attention-seeking behavior attracted the attention of a serial killer who killed his wife and daughter.
As of May 20, 2010, The Mentalist have been aired a total of 46 episodes over two seasons. On Thursday 23, September, the season 3 premiere episode “Red Sky at Night” is set to be air on CBS at 10 PM in which Jane contemplates his future with the CBI after his encounter with serial killer Red John. At the same time, the team investigates two high-profile kidnappings. This episode is directed by Chris Long and written by Bruno Heller.
