The new manga anime TV series Arakawa Under the Bridge is produced by studio Shaft and directed by Akiyuki Shinbo (Bakemonogatari, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei), it is an original romantic comedy manga by Hikaru Nakamura. It is a mixed theme like comedy, romance and supernatural.
The Arakawa Under The Bridge is story about a young elite man, Ichinomiya “Riku” Kou, who has always lived with his wealthy, successful family with a policy of not being in debt to anyone. One day, one beautiful girl named Nino saved his life, Kou promises to be her boyfriend in order to pay her back. Kou fulfills Nino’s desire to have a boyfriend. Then they start their new life under the bridge by the Arakawa River. There being only one episode out so far, there is only so much to say. That being said, if you enjoyed FLCL, it has a strangely similar feel to it. Basically, the story, art, sound, characters, nothing really matters. Its basically a series of jokes.
