Top Chef

Top Chef is an American reality contest show airs on Bravo, US TV channel. The show is produced by Magical Elves Productions, who created Project Runway. Chef contestants participate in show and compete against each other in culinary challenges. The contestants for the Top Chef are judged by a team of professional chefs and other notables from the food and wine industry. In each episode, one or more contestants are eliminated.

Top Chef Season 6 was completed last year. It was filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada and its last episode was ended on December 16, 2009 in Napa California. For season 6 the judges remained the same as in Season 5. Kevin Gillespie and two brothers named Bryan Voltaggio and Michael Voltaggio were finalists in season 6. Michael received the title of Top Chef.

Top Chef Season 7

Bravo TV announced a seventh season of Top Chef on October 5, 2009 which was first filmed in Washington, DC and will complete in Montreal, Canada. Top Chef Season 7 will premiere on Wednesday, June 6, 2010 at 9:00pm EST on Bravo.

There are 17 chefs competing in Season 7 as in prior seasons. Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, and Eric Ripert will be Judges for Season 7. You can check out the bios and pictures for each17 contestants from Bravo’s official website Bravotv.com.

The winner will receive $125,000 furnished by Dial Nutriskin, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, a showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen and the title of “Top Chef.” The cookbook author and actress Padma Lakshmi will be the show host.

According of Bravo tv.com “The challenges featured will be some of the most creative and inventive yet: the chefs take over the concession stands at the Nationals stadium, go inside the CIA’s closely guarded headquarters and literally receive out of this world direction on one challenge from a NASA astronaut orbiting Earth.” also added that season 7 will be the best yet and capture the varied tastes of Washington D.C.

Top Chef Season 7 Guest stars will features on some of the top names including Apollo Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, White House chef Sam Kass, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, Congressman Aaron Schock of Illinois, Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, CIA Director Leon Panetta, NBC White House Correspondent Savannah Guthrie and will among other famous celebrities.

Top Chef (S06E05) Synopsis:

In this episode, the chefs visited a campsite to create a menu worthy of a group of Las Vegas cowboys. The chef prepared the high-end dish of their choice for two dozen cowboys, and judges had given them one hour and 15 minute to prepare their cook. Mattin tried to impress the judges with his different cook item. He made a Ceviche with three ways Salmon with Apple, Spicy Tuna & Cod with Corn. Bryan made a quality dish and judges were impressed by his dish. Everybody tried their level best of themselves.

Bryan finally won his third challenge in five episodes with a Roasted Pork Loin with Corn Polenta, Dandelion Greens, and Glazed Rutabega. But he had not received immunity prize.

Top Chef (s06e04): Vivre Las Vegas Summary:

In this episode, contestants were asked to show their mastery of French cuisine and they must tap into their traditional cooking skills. There were also presences of the judges who are the biggest names in the industry: Daniel Boulud, Hubert Keller, Joel Robuchon and Jean Joho.

Tom Colicchio and a guest judge raised the bets, in the quickfire challenge and the challenge was that to make a stellar snail dish. The loser would be instantly sent home. With snails, candied bacon and mushrooms, Kevin once again nabbed top honors.

Jesse, Ashley and Robin reached in the bottom three. The condition was that to create an amuse-bouche in a three-way cook off in only 20 minutes. Finally, Jesse was sent home after a long stay in the bottom. The last words of Jesse were, “I promise I don’t suck this much.”
